Just having a little fun to let off the holiday steam...teacher teams collaborate at this faculty meeting to create a NEW SANTA FOR 2020. Teams were given recyclable materials and supplies to create (highest taxonomic cognitive level) a new Santa for the new year. What a creative staff we have!!!

We received first place in the marching unit category in this yearʻs Keaʻau Lighted Christmas Parade. See our brilliantly lit sugar cane tractor, our After School All Stars Program leaders and students; and of course, the BEST and BRIGHTEST students and staff of Keaʻau Middle School.

Teams are at it again in team competition. This time, itʻs a measure of their communication skills. They are trying to replicate a gum drop model by passing on information through runners from a separate room. Each runner is only able to give one set of directions to describe what they saw in the other room.

2018 KKPCA Summit August 6, 2018 Kea'au High School
AMLE's Jack Berckemeyer opens the 2018 KKPCA Summit with his keynote address. He had us in stitches! Another AMLE great is Eric Francis presenting on Questioning. We all had the opportunity to attend three fabulous sessions with tremendous learning before closing with our local favorite Augie T as the closing keynote. What a great day of learning!!!

Greenwave Scholars wishing to express their voice on school safety participate in a respectful and peaceful walkout. The names of the 17 victims of the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School were read and 17 seconds of silence observed. It was very moving and so respectfully done. |

Meet Pho, a rescue dog and assistant to Mary Rose Krijgsman of Rainbow Friends Animal Santuary. This dynamic duo pleased the crowd of animal lovers.
Poi making, Upena Kiloi (throw net), Ulu Maika (Hawaiian bowling), Taiko Drumming, Tahitian dance, Wa'a (Canoe Building), Ti Leaf Making, Surfboards, World Wide Voyage, Natural Area Reserve Systems (NARS), Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), Sustainable Island Products, Sense of Place, Huki Huki (tug of war), Hele Wawae, Haka Moa (chicken fight-people kine), Oha (Northern Hawaiian Islands), Konane (Hawaiian Checkers and more was shared at today's Culture Day. A great way to celebrate our host culture and to kick off the Spring Break. The students had a blast!

Our KMS staff made laulau on January 5, 2016. We worked together as an ohana to wrap the laulau and prepare the lomi salmon. On January 6, 2016, we celebrated the beginning of a new year at a Paina. Lots of ono grinds brought by the staff and highlighted by our own homemade laulau and lomi salmon. Mmmmmm... we do it the GREENWAVE WAY here at KMS. |

Tom Murphy will be invited back to Kea'au Middle School for another presentation to Parents, Community and Staff in August. Join us in the fight against bullying. Let's do it together. Let's do it the GREENWAVE WAY.
